Historic Name

Our club's name is built around a little local railroad history. The first part of the name, Rockcut, comes from a location just west of Lake Dorothy. It was there that the Cleveland Zanesville and Cincinnati Railroad encountered a large chunk of raised bedrock. In order to continue the work of building a railroad, the CZ&C crew blasted through the obstacle. The location became known by the railroad and by locals as Rockcut. (Rockcut Road dead ends near this location).

The second part of our name comes from a place along the same line once known as Silver Creek. At Silver Creek a branch line lead from the main line to several area coal mines.
